a little about me ...

My interest in designing custom fashion dolls first began in 1999.  My twenty plus years in industrial/personal sewing has played a major role in creating and drafting my own patterns and designs in the fashion doll world.  With all of the commercial patterns available I still prefer to draft and use my own.  Beyond sewing, I have mastered the art of thread crochet, tatting, and hand quilting.

Recently I have been adding more beading to my designs, and have also learned some new techniques using machine embroidery.  All of my custom designed outfits are machine and or hand stitched with the greatest attention to quality and detail.  These are all made with the finest of fabrics, and trims and are always completely removable.   My dolls receive a complete removal of original factory paint and are repainted using quality artist acrylics and sealers to give them their own unique look.

What initially drew me in to restoring  Barbie dolls prior to 99', began when my path had crossed with a  poor  vintage Barbie doll that had the unfortunate encounter with a "junior hair stylist".   I just knew that this doll could somehow be restored to it's original beauty.  From that point on, I've learned how to do all of my own restorations, whether it be reroots, body repairs,  repaints etc.    I relish in finding Vintage and Mod Barbies ~ "fixer dolls" and restoring them into beautiful girls again.  I also have restored vintage clothing and created some reproduction outfits for Barbie dolls.  I've found the possibilities are endless and my fascination grows with every new or vintage doll I encounter.   Though my interest in designing custom dolls has grown, I still try to find time for my own doll restorations.
